Joy in the waiting

Although it was 27 years ago, I remember being physically pregnant.

The hopeful expectation of meeting my child face to face; would it be a boy or a girl? What would they look like, what would they be like? So much joy in the waiting, but also the wondering, the worrying…and the impatience as the due date came, and went. Eight days late according to the calendar. Ah, but right on time. Isn’t it like that when we are pregnant with dreams and visions from the Lord? I love how He gives us insights into the spiritual in our physical lives. So often, we have the timetable set in our hearts and minds, but the Lords timing is always right on time. I write this now as we look to launch YWAM Santa Rosa in a month. This spiritual pregnancy is ready to birth! We are ready to go, and yet…we still wait for housing for our team. We are confident in the promises of the Lord, of His plans…there is joy in the waiting, but also the wondering, the worrying…will it come on time? Over and over, He talks us off the ledge of our frail human emotions, reminding us again that He is faithful. He is a good provider. And so we continue to move forward. We make our plans, and the Lord orders our steps. Next week I will start to close down my house in Chico in preparation to move to Santa Rosa. Many, many people are praying and believing with us; they encourage us every day. We seek the Lord in how to wait, how to occupy this time. And there is joy in the waiting. Wondering how and when and where and what it will look like. Every day as we spend time in His Word and seek Him, He encourages us, reminds us of His faithfulness, and strengthens our spirits. It was 27 years ago that I was physically pregnant. I have the gift of hindsight now. The Lords timing was right on time, and the joy of welcoming my precious daughter into the world was unsurpassed. He had good plans for us then, and He showed Himself faithful throughout all these years. He will do it again, just as He has always done.
