This is the story of the centurion whose son was dying, and he approached Jesus and asked
Jesus to come with him to heal his son. Jesus said “your son will be fine, go home to him.”
And as the above scripture points out, the man believed him and set out for home.
Missions in California? When I was called to missions at the age of 15 I had a very traditional view of what that meant and what it would look like. I saw myself in a hut somewhere hot, eating questionable food, not speaking the language, and not seeing my family for years.
And then I got a picture. It was a picture of Christmas. And I remembered as a child, like most
children, the incredible sense of excitement and anticipation of Christmas.
Although it was 27 years ago, I remember being physically pregnant. The hopeful expectation
of meeting my child face to face; would it be a boy or a girl? What would they look like, what
would they be like? So much joy in the waiting, but also the wondering, the worrying…
